Base Nutrients are the foundation for your plant's diet because they contain all the necessary nutrients that plants need for healthy growth. There are 16 essential elements that plants require to survive and grow. The first 3 are provided by the air and water: Oxygen, Hydrogen, and Carbon. Plants get oxygen and carbon from the air and hydrogen from water. The other 13 essential elements are provided by base nutrients. These elements are Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Sulfur, Iron, Manganese, Zinc, Boron, Copper, Chlorine, and Molybdenum. These 13 elements are provided to the plants by the Base Nutrients in the correct amounts needed by plants to grow and thrive.

Elite Series 3 Part
Blue Planet Nutrients Elite 3 Part is a complete nutrient package that provides all 13 of the required nutrients for lush, healthy growth when all 3 parts are used together. This Base Nutrient Line comes in three parts, GROW, MICRO, and BLOOM.
The reason that there are 3 parts are two-fold. First, some of the minerals used in these products are not compatible with each other in concentrated amounts. Therefore, we mix these minerals in separate products so they do not interact with each other which keeps them available for use by plants. When GROW, MICRO, and BLOOM are added to your hydroponic reservoir, they are diluted enough so that they are always remain available for plants to use for growth. Secondly, having 3 separate parts allows growers to modify their feeding regimes throughout their plant's life cycle as nutrient requirements change. Many growers prefer a 3 part base because of this. An example of this is increasing the BLOOM and decreasing the GROW and MICRO during flower phase. The reason for this is that during the flower phase, plants require less nitrogen but more phosphorus and potassium. During the vegetative growth phase, plants need more nitrogen because their plants are focused on growing leaves, stems and roots so growers provide their plants with more GROW and MICRO.
